Every civilization has had the equivalent of 'marriage.' I don't necesarily understand the draw of it myself, but.. Anyways, it's amazing how this has developed. Sure, homophobic rhetoric from the right was to be expected, Bush's constitutional amendment was the obvious ploy, but then San Fran's mayor, and now in New Paltz! A pity neither 'serious' democratic candidate is willing to take a strong stand, but that's also to be expected. If more mayors / officials across the nation take a stand like this.. Who knows?
