Little by little, this puppy is inching its way toward completion. I am talking, of course, about the rebuilding of the site, which was necessitated by the abrupt folding of my old web host, It-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named.
You may notice a gap between postings — one from mid-May until the beginning of October. This is because all my postings from 2001 through April had been preserved (praise Jah) in a form that could be imported into Movable Type. The import took place earlier today.
As for the more recent writings, while the old web host’s disappearing act have made exporting the files in OPML impossible, I do have the files — in HTML. In order to get them into my new Movable Type database, I have to put them into importable form by hand, one posting at a time. Considering I am looking at just under 200 of them, this effort will take a little time. But it will be done — and it is possible to do: The May postings were completed this morning by hand, all by my lonesome, thankyouverymuch. No, I am not crowing about it, goddess knows, but this has been a horrid year. It’s nice to see something go right for a change.
Then again, the bloody task isn’t complete yet, and the archives are still screwy — I better hold off on the attagirls until everything is done and done right. Don’t want to jinx it now, do we?
Wish me luck.
In any case, I do want to say thanks again to Chris and Joe from my new and wonderful web host Cyber Wurx, and to Ginevra from Six Apart. They offered some great advice at the start of this nightmare; I really appreciate their kindness and generosity.
