Word is just in: Pope John Paul II is dead. Reuters report that according to a Vatican announcement, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church passed away at 9:37 pm Italian time (2:37 pm EDT).
I thank God for bringing us a powerful and passionate voice for peace. As for the rest of the Polish pontiff’s “achievements,” Creator, forgive him. I do believe he knew not the harm he did.
